Expert Pipe Replacement Services

Licensed, insured, 1-year warranty · Same-day & 24/7 service · Serving Canton, Woodstock & North Atlanta

Some pipes can be repaired indefinitely. Others have reached the end of their service life and the next repair is just buying time before the one after that. BF Plumbing & Drain replaces pipe sections and whole branches across North Atlanta — galvanized supply that's corroded internally, polybutylene that's a known failure risk, cast-iron drains that have scaled and cracked, and copper that's developed widespread pinhole leaks.

We use modern materials: PEX-A or copper for supply, PVC or cast-iron for drains where code requires. Every job is permitted where required, pressure- or flow-tested before close-up, and warrantied for one year on workmanship.

When section replacement makes sense

Replacement instead of repeat repair when:

  • Galvanized supply with visible internal scaling and pressure loss.
  • Polybutylene anywhere in the home.
  • Multiple pinhole leaks in copper within 12 months.
  • Cast-iron drain stack with cracking or interior corrosion shown on camera.
  • Lead solder joints (pre-1986) in supply lines.
  • Pipe noise, water hammer, or persistent low pressure with no other cause.

Our replacement process

Replacement is bigger than repair but follows the same discipline:

  1. 1

    Scope & quote

Walk the system, identify what's being replaced and what's staying, written quote covering materials, access, restoration scope, and timeline.

  2. 2

    Permit & shutoff plan

Permits where required. Coordinate water shutoff window with you so the disruption is predictable.

  3. 3

    Access & remove

Drywall and ceilings opened cleanly. Old pipe removed in sections. Hangers and supports inspected.

  4. 4

    Install new system

PEX-A manifold systems where it makes sense, copper for visible exposed runs, PVC drains. Proper supports, slope on drains, and code-correct fittings.

  5. 5

    Test, inspect & restore

Pressure or flow test, city inspection where required, drywall patch coordination, and final walk-through.

What pipe replacement costs in North Atlanta

Highly variable. Cost depends on:

  • Scope — single branch, full supply, full drain, or whole-home repipe.
  • Existing material and how easily it removes.
  • Access — single-story crawlspace vs. multi-story with finished ceilings.
  • Material — PEX vs. copper vs. PVC vs. cast iron.
  • Restoration scope (we coordinate but don't typically do finish carpentry).
  • Permit and inspection fees.

Replacement candidates we see across North Atlanta

North Atlanta is a patchwork of housing stock and soil conditions, and that drives a lot of plumbing decisions. Subdivisions built in the 1990s and early 2000s across Canton, Woodstock and Holly Springs typically run builder-grade PVC and CPVC that's now reaching end-of-life on fittings and shutoffs. Older homes in Marietta, Roswell and Kennesaw still have cast-iron drains and copper supply that scale up and pinhole. Newer construction in Acworth, Ball Ground and Cumming sits on red clay that shifts seasonally and stresses underground lines.

We work in this market every day, so we know which neighborhoods have shared sewer easements, which water utilities require a permit pull, and which inspectors want to see specific fittings. That local knowledge shortens the job and keeps it code-correct the first time.

Frequently asked questions

PEX or copper — which should I use?

PEX-A is the modern default for residential supply: flexible, freeze-tolerant, fewer joints, decades of proven use. Copper still has a place where exposed runs are visible or where code requires it. We'll recommend per situation.

How long does a section replacement take?

A single branch (one bathroom or one kitchen) is typically 1 day. A full supply repipe is 2–4 days. Whole-home including drains is a week-plus.

Do I need to move out?

No, but you'll have water shut off in scheduled windows. Most homeowners stay. We coordinate timing so you're not without water overnight.

Will my insurance cover replacement?

Insurance generally covers damage from a sudden leak, not planned replacement of aging pipe. Some carriers offer service-line riders. Check your policy.
