Top-Rated Gas Line Installation & Repair

Licensed, insured, 1-year warranty · Same-day & 24/7 service · Serving Canton, Woodstock & North Atlanta

Gas line work is a licensed trade because the consequences of doing it wrong are severe. BF Plumbing & Drain installs and repairs natural gas and propane lines across North Atlanta — new appliance hookups (range, dryer, water heater, fireplace, generator, outdoor grill), new runs for additions and remodels, leak repair, and full pressure testing. Every job is permitted, inspected, and pressure-tested before being put back in service.

We use black iron, CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing) with proper bonding, and tracer wire as required. Permits are pulled with the local jurisdiction and the utility is coordinated for relight when the gas is shut off.

When to call about a gas line

Anything in this list warrants an immediate call:

  • Smell of sulfur or rotten eggs anywhere in or around the house.
  • Hissing sound near a gas appliance or meter.
  • Dead vegetation along the gas line path outside.
  • Adding or relocating an appliance — new range, gas dryer, outdoor kitchen, generator.
  • Higher-than-usual gas bills with no change in usage.
  • Yellow appliance flames instead of blue, soot on appliances.

Our gas line service process

Gas work follows a strict safety sequence:

  1. 1

    Permit & shutoff

Permit pulled with the local jurisdiction. Utility notified for shutoff and re-light. House gas turned off at the meter before any work.

  2. 2

    Leak isolation (repair calls)

Soap test or electronic gas detector identifies the leak. We isolate the section, depressurize, and confirm the source.

  3. 3

    Repair or new run

Threaded black iron for most rigid runs. CSST where flexibility is needed, with proper bonding to the home's grounding system per code. Tracer wire on buried runs.

  4. 4

    Pressure test

Section is pressurized to code-required pressure (typically 1.5–2x working pressure) and held for the required duration. No gas restored until the test passes.

  5. 5

    Inspection & relight

City inspector signs off. Utility releases the meter. We relight every gas appliance in the home and verify clean blue combustion.

What gas line work costs in North Atlanta

Flat-rate pricing. Drivers:

  • New run length and routing complexity.
  • Black iron vs. CSST material.
  • Number of appliance connections being added.
  • Whether the gas meter requires upsizing for added BTU load.
  • Outdoor vs. indoor work, buried vs. exposed runs.
  • Permit and inspection fees.

Gas service across North Atlanta

North Atlanta is a patchwork of housing stock and soil conditions, and that drives a lot of plumbing decisions. Subdivisions built in the 1990s and early 2000s across Canton, Woodstock and Holly Springs typically run builder-grade PVC and CPVC that's now reaching end-of-life on fittings and shutoffs. Older homes in Marietta, Roswell and Kennesaw still have cast-iron drains and copper supply that scale up and pinhole. Newer construction in Acworth, Ball Ground and Cumming sits on red clay that shifts seasonally and stresses underground lines.

We work in this market every day, so we know which neighborhoods have shared sewer easements, which water utilities require a permit pull, and which inspectors want to see specific fittings. That local knowledge shortens the job and keeps it code-correct the first time.

Frequently asked questions

I smell gas — what do I do right now?

Get everyone out of the house. Do not flip light switches or use phones inside. Call your gas utility's emergency line from outside, then call us. Don't go back in until the utility clears it.

Do I need a permit for gas work?

Yes for almost any gas line work — new run, appliance addition, line extension. We pull it. Doing gas work without a permit is unsafe and creates liability if anything happens later.

Is CSST safe?

Yes, when installed to current code with proper bonding. Older CSST installs sometimes lack the bonding requirement that protects the line from lightning surges — we verify and correct on every job.

Can you hook up my outdoor kitchen / generator / fireplace?

Yes. New gas appliance hookups are routine work for us. We size the line to the BTU load and pressure-test before commissioning.
